Position: Artist Development Director/Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO) Director

Reports To: Wendy Fanning, Executive Director

Position Summary: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Location: Laramie, Wyoming

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000/year

About Us:​

Founded in 1999, the Wyoming Women’s Business Center (WWBC) is a 501c3 private non-profit organization headquartered in Laramie, WY. Our mission is to empower Wyoming entrepreneurs, especially women, through our counseling, training, and microfinance programs to start, expand, and sustain small businesses in the state of Wyoming. We strive to advance self-sufficiency and equality. We do that through 4 distinct programs: (1) Business Counseling and Training, (2) Microloans, (3) The Artist Development Center, and (4) Mental Wellness Program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and inventory of WoW retail store.

  • Recruit, hire, and provide onboarding training to WoW staff.

  • Monitor staff quality and performance and provide feedback and coaching as appropriate.

  • Engage and collaborate with the WWBC team to establish Artist Development Program goals, provide updates, and receive feedback.

  • Assist the Executive Director in achieving OWBO milestones through community and economic development tactics.

  • Work with Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement WoW marketing strategies.

  • Conduct industry and client research to understand better artist learning objectives, target markets, and industry trends.

  • Collaborate with the WWBC team to develop and implement WoW artist development education and outreach programs in conjunction with other WWBC programming.

  • Regularly review gallery/retail space design and layout to maximize sales.

  • Work with WoW staff to create in-store exhibit design for store layout.

  • Regularly review and recommend process and systems improvement that will benefit WoW artists and customers.

  • Manage the annual call for artists and selection committee members and organize all materials.

  • Work with Executive Director to and implement a Patron Program for WoW     .

  • Ensure all aspects of WoW align with the needs of the WWBC mission to empower Wyoming entrepreneurs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanities Fine Arts, marketing, or related field. 

  • Experience in gallery work with a supporting portfolio or industry-specific knowledge.

  • Proficiency with standard office computer software, emphasizing the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Exhibit a high level of accountability and motivation.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Adept at time and project management. 

  • Creative problem-solver with strong leadership qualities. 

  • Receptiveness to feedback and adaptability.

  • Willingness to travel and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Humanities Fine Arts, marketing, or related field.

  • Demonstrable experience in event planning and presentations.

  • Experience managing staff with effective delegation. 

  • Experience with point-of-sale software and Shopify e-commerce platform.
