Position Description: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Position Summary: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Location: Preference for a candidate based in Southeast Wyoming, as frequent travel to the Laramie, WY office is required. Other Wyoming locations may be considered, with hybrid or remote options available. The candidate must be a Wyoming resident.

About Us

The Wyoming Women’s Business Center (WWBC) empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners by providing access to training, mentorship, and financial resources. We serve entrepreneurs across Wyoming, with a special focus on those who are economically or socially disadvantaged. Our programs include business counseling, business education, mental wellness, and microfinance opportunities designed to promote economic self-sufficiency.

Position Overview

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of WWBC, leading the organization’s strategic direction, financial sustainability, and program execution. This role requires a dynamic and visionary leader who is passionate about economic empowerment and skilled in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations: Administrative, Financial Management & Fundraising

• Serve as the chief administrative officer, implementing policies and procedures adopted by the Board.

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal management to ensure sustainability.

• Supervise and support onsite and remote WWBC staff to ensure efficient daily operations.

• Ensure compliance with insurance, licenses, tax reports, and donor database requirements.

• Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including grant writing, donor cultivation, sponsorships, and special events.

• Identify new revenue streams and innovative client-building strategies.

Strategic Leadership & Board Governance

• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals and priorities.

• Provide guidance on organizational development and sustainability.

• Support Board recruitment and governance initiatives.

• Keep the Board informed of all major projects and activities monthly.

Community Engagement, Marketing & Development

• Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for WWBC, building relationships with community leaders, state and federal agencies, partners, and sponsors.

• Oversee marketing, public relations, and outreach efforts to expand WWBC’s impact and audience.

• Support training programs and develop and implement statewide initiatives to support Wyoming’s entrepreneurs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, public administration, education, or a related field or equivalent years of experience.

• 3-5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management or a related area.

• Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, grant writing, accounting software, and fundraising.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

• Experience in personnel management and working with remote teams.

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a record of driving organizational growth.

• Willingness to travel in-state and out-of-state as needed, including some overnight travel.​

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communication tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business management, public administration or related field.

• 3-5 years of experience in economic development

• Understanding of lending practices and financial resources for small businesses.

• Familiarity with Wyoming’s business ecosystem and economic development resources.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 DOE
